365 “LIFE” pieces on papers from around the world
One child dies every 5 seconds due to hunger-related causes in the world. In Japan, the number of suicides reaches 30,000 cases a year, which is equivalent to about 100 people a day. When I am blessed to wake up every day to a peaceful morning, I feel deep in my heart that peace is truly precious and irreplaceable.
With these many victims in mind, I carried out a calligraphy-drawing demonstration with the intent of praying in my own way for their souls. During the demonstration, I drew the Japanese character “生” (LIFE), a piece every 5 seconds, reaching a total of 100 pieces. In June 2016, I hold an exhibition of 365 “LIFE” pieces on papers from around the world.
All of the characters are the same, “LIFE”.
One day when I gazed at many of the “LIFE” pieces on my wall,
each of the characters looked like the faces and figures of people.
